Abstract (EN)
Ill ABSTRACT The relationships between Turkey and European Union (EU) have began with Turkey's application for associate member to the European Economic Community (EEC). Turkey have applied for full membership to European Community (EC) on April 14, 1987. The application wasn't accepted because of political and economical reasons. Copenhagen European Council assembling on June 21-22, 1993 have admitted criteria that become member of European. These ctiteria are that has achieved stability of institutions guaranteeing democracy, the rule of law, human rights, and respect for and protection of minorities, the existence of a functioning market economy as well as the capacity to cope with competitive pressures and market forces within the Union, has the ability to take on the obligations of membership, including adherence to the aims of political, economic and monetary Union Turkey was accepted as a candidate state in EU Helsinki Summit assembled on December 11-12,1999. Turkey needs to adopt to political criteria to begin accession negotations and to the other criteria to be full member. The most important problem of Turkey in integration to EU is macro economic unstability. Turkey economy would adopt to EU, if December 9 Decisions becomes succesfull and EU raises the contributions to Turkey.
