Abstract (EN)
Introduction and AimCoronary artery disease (CAD) is the most cause of death in our countryand the risk of atrial fibrillation (AF) is known to increase in these patients. İnour study we aimed to assess P wave dispersion (PWD), P maximum (P max),intra-atrial electromechanic delay (intra-AEMD) and inter-atrial electromechanicdelay (inter-AEMD) which are known as predictors of AF in patients with CADand together with to evaluate the relation between these parameters and gensiniscore which indicates prevalence and severity of CAD.MethodsThe study population was composed of 60 patients (14 females, 46 male)with angiographically proven coronary artery disease and 60 healty controls (23females, 37 males) with angiographically proven normal coronary arteries. Pwave dispersion and P max duration of all participants were measured onelectrocardiography and intra-AEMD and inter-AEMD were measured byechocardiography in all participants. We used gensini score to assess theprevelance of CAD and compared the relation between PWD, P max, inter-AEMD and intra-AEMD with generality.FindingsThere was no statistically significant difference (p> 0.05) between thetwo groups in terms of age, sex and body mass index in our study. However, hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia and smoking rates were significantlyhigher in CAD group (p < 0.05). P wave dispersiton (61.5 ± 17.4 versus 53.5 ±13.3, p = 0.005), P max (122.0 ± 16.6 versus 100.7 ± 13.7, p < 0.00.1), inter-AEMG (34.3 ± 15.4 versus 27.9 ± 12.1, p = 0.013) and intra-AEMD (16.5 ± 12.0versus 12.9 ± 7.8, p = 0.041) were significantly higher in CAD group whencompared with control group. In addition, Gensini score had positive correlationwith PWD (r = 0.60, p < 0.001), P max (r = 0.53, p = 0.002), inter-AEMD (r =0.45, p = 0.001) and intra-AEMD (r = 0.49, p = 0.004).ConclusionP wave dispersion, P max, intra-AEMG and inter-AEMG durations wereprolonged in proportion to the prevalence of CAD in coronary artery diseasegroup when compared with control group. This prolongation may be helpful inpatients with CAD in the detection of individuals who develop AF.
