Abstract (EN)

This study aims to comprehensively examine the traditional Ottoman-era houses built in Kosovo between the 18th and 19th centuries in terms of architectural structure, spatial layout, and typological characteristics. Within the scope of the research, the spatial relationship of these houses with their external environment (such as the street and neighborhood layout), their connection with the courtyard (garden), plan schemes, sections of the house and interior organization, structural elements, façade design, construction techniques, material usage, and decorative features are analyzed in their historical, cultural, and structural contexts. In this context, the study is not limited to architectural documentation and typological classification; it also evaluates the position of traditional residential typology within the Ottoman urbanization model, its interaction with local building culture, and the socio-cultural dynamics reflected in the physical space. This approach, based on the analysis of the environmental and cultural context in which the houses are situated, considers the buildings not merely as physical objects, but also as reflections of a specific way of life, social relations, and everyday life practices.
