Examination of public library usage and reading habit correlation in Kırıkkale

Known as the university of the people, public libraries are institutions that have the power of unifying the community without any kind of discrimination on the requirements needed for education, knowledge, culture and likewise which is essential for support and services that are provided as well as allowing access to resources, materials, and collections available with gaining a habit of reading for the public while evolving and improving to all circumstances. Increasingly libraries and the phenomenon of reading in the current age of information require valid and reliable access to sources. The study put forth was centered among the community of Kırıkkale that access public libraries, with their level and relationship to the habit of reading. Factoring the circumstances of the libraries has been evaluated when considering the publics' literacy habit. For these purposes, questionnaires have been set up for the community of Kırıkkale to gain insight on their views about the public libraries and evaluated with the questions asked. The questions have been set up in a survey format that has been analyzed to come up with the information used for this study. The survey was conducted in the province of Kırıkkale which includes the nine districts with a total of thirteen libraries. The results gathered by 300 participants that are located in the province and districts of Kırıkkale public libraries have provided strong evidence that the community of Kırıkkale has a partially habit of literacy and ability to reaing skills are not sufficiently, adult encouragement to use public libraries is insufficient, and the correlation between the use of public libraries and habit of reading frequently was connected resolutely. An additional factor included in the questionnaire was environmental attribution and surroundings which play a great role in the habit of reading and using libraries. At this point, we have reached the conclusion that the sensitivity and importance of starting from students, younger generations who have connections to libraries and a strong habit of reading are important for families, schools, and libraries acquired from the outcome of the surveys conducted.
