Abstract (EN)

This study was conducted as a descriptive study to investigate the relationship between self-efficacy and life satisfaction in patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. The universe of this study consisted of 127 patients who were treated with the diagnosis of COPD between March 2018 and August 2018 in Mardin State Hospital and Kızıltepe State Hospital Chest Diseases Service. The data were collected by face-to-face interview technique by the patient identification form, Life Satisfaction Scale and General Self-Efficacy Scale. 62. 2%of the participants were male and the mean age was 66. 04 ± 13. 44. It was found that there was a positive and medium level relationship between life satisfaction and self-efficacy of the patients (p<0. 05). There was a statistically significant negative correlation between the ages of the participants and their general self-efficacy scores (p <0. 05, r: -0.27). There was a statistically significant negative correlation between the age and life satisfaction scores of the patients who participated in the study (p <0. 05, r: -0.18). General self-efficacy scores of non-smokers were higher (p <0. 05). However, there was no significant relationship between smoking status and life satisfaction of the patients. (p > 0. 05). By determining the self-efficacy and life satisfaction of patients with COPD, planning and implementation of appropriate nursing interventions, determining the causes that decrease the patients' self-efficacy and life satisfaction, and the implementation of nursing interventions for these reasons may be suggested.
