Improvement of rural education by the means of information and communication technology: Example of bussed education in Eskişehir

In this study, information and communication technology based models are investigated with the aim of providing improvement in rural education. Bussed Education, which is the biggest part of Turkish rural education, is taken as case study.The study consist of several parts, the introduction section covers purpose of statement, the importance of study, assumptions, limitations and methodology. In the first section, at first rural and rural education concepts are given in general. Secondly, the current situation of rural education in Turkey is explained. After that studies and problems about Bussed Education is mentioned. The second section covers distance education system as a support in rural education. The third section includes applications from United States, Europe, Asia-Pacific, Africa and Australia. In the fourth section, the constructed model is given. The fifth and final section is composed of results and recommendations.
