Abstract (EN)

In terms of rural development; it is important to increase the economic level of farmers living in rural areas, improve their living conditions, support different activities that will provide additional income and ensure the environmental sustainability of these regions. In recent years; employment, education, food security, transportation and poverty problems experienced in rural areas have greatly affected the people of the region. For this purpose; it is aimed to solve the problems with the implemented rural support policies. In this study; the effectiveness of public supports provided in the field of agriculture and animal husbandry for rural development in Hakkari Province was investigated. For this purpose; interviews were conducted with 48 people working in the agriculture and animal husbandry sector within the borders of Hakkari and benefiting from public supports using the interview method. The participants consist of farmers receiving beekeeping, large and small cattle supports. When the interviews conducted with the participants are taken as a reference; it was concluded that the public supports provided were not sufficient and did not achieve their purpose. In addition; opinions were expressed on the issues of the supports provided not having a positive effect on rural development, that research should be conducted before providing supports and that supports appropriate for the region should be provided. It was understood that the monitoring mechanism for public supports was inadequate and that the deficiencies in this regard should be eliminated.
