A study on the determination of yield and yield components in some bread wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) varieties in ecological conditions of Kırşehir

Abstract (EN)

Grain yield and some yield components of twenty two bread wheat cultivars were determined in this study that were conducted during the 2014-2015 growing seasons in Kırşehir ecological conditions. Twenty two bread wheat cultivars (Bayraktar-2000, Tosunbey, Karahan-99, Selimiye, Aldane, Kate-A-1, Bezostaja, Sönmez-2001, Gün-91, Kıraç-66, Dağdaş-94, Kırgız-95, Pehlivan, İkizce-96, Gerek-79, Sultan-95, Müfitbey, Altay-2000, Harmankaya -99, Esperia, Gelibolu, Bereket) were used in this study. Significant differences were determined in grain yield and yield components among wheat cultivars. Days to headings ranged between 215.0 and 205.3 days, grain filling duration 39.67 and 33.67 days, plant height 83.47 and 62.62 cm, spike lenght 8.53 and 6.46 cm, number of spike per m2 633.3 and 415.0, number of fertile spikelets per spike 15.30 and 12.0, number of sterile spikelets per spike 5.26 and 2.33, grain number per spike 32.0 and 20.03, grain weight per spike 1.25 and 0.72 g, thousand grain weight 42.37 and 31.93 g, biological yield 1204.0 and 878.9 kg da-1, grain yield 450.4 and 284.1 kg da-1, harvest index 38.40 and 25.30 %. It was concluded that the highest grain yield was determined with 450.4 kg da-1 in Karahan 99 bread wheat variety. Karahan 99, Sönmez 2001 and Bereket bread wheat cultivars could be recommended for Kırşehir ecological conditions. Key words: Bread wheat, yield components, grain yield.
