Kıssa-i Hurûc-kerden-i Mâlik Ecdâr b. Hâris (Examination-text)

This study contains transcription and examination of Kissa-i Hurûc Kordan-i Mȃlik Ajdȃr bin Al-Hȃrith, one of hagiographies, generated by legends which have an important place in Turkish culture, evolving with transition of the society to Islam, and maintaining greatly their types, motif structures and mythological features. Hagiographies, in the nature of continuation of legends, were subjected to a sequence by scientists of the field in terms of similarity of their styles and of informing each other. Hagiographies, an element of commonly-held this sequence, are put in order as Hz. Ali cenknȃme's, Hamza-nȃme, Müseyyeb-nȃme, Ebȃ Müslim-nȃme, Battal-nȃme, Danişmend-nȃme and Saltık-nȃme. Lack of some rings of this sequence was mentioned by scientists. In our study, we determined place and importance of Kissa-i Hurûc Kordan-i Mȃlik Ajdȃr bin Al-Hȃrith by comparing it with the said hagiographies; readdressed hagiographies in terms of the subject they treated and the structure; and eventually we revealed the work, subject of our thesis, is an important hagiography that fills a significant gap of this ring. In first chapter of this study which were arranged in three chapters, we mentioned author, sub-chapters, sources and narrators of the work. One of the most important issues on the work is about who is author of the work. As author, tha nâme of Şevkî b. Abdullâh with date of death of 1809 is mentioned in catalogue record of library at which the manuscript is present. Again, pen nâme of Şevkî was written down in verse sections in the work, as well. As a result of researches, no considerable information on Şevki and this work was founded. Poets/prosists with same pen nâme whom were mentioned in biographic and bibliographic sources were examined. However author's identity was tried to determine based on the given information, no clear information was yet reached. We made inferences on Şevkî, who is subject of our thesis, by comparing features of works by poets/prosists who used the same pen nâme, and linguistic ans stylistic features of these works with Kissa-i Hurûc Kordan-i Mȃlik Ajdȃr bin Al-Hȃrith. In the second chapter of our study, we made an analysis of the work, and explained its linguistic and expressive features with examples. In the final section of the study, we prepared the transcripted text of the work, by rhyming off the wording features which draw attention in the text, and methods which were followed in formation of the text as well as the copy description and copy characteristics. Ultimately, inferences obtained were explained, and our study was completed by index of proper nâmes.
