Abstract (EN)

In the presented master's thesis, the synthesis and characterization of Zn-based and quercetin doped hydroxyapatite (HAp) biomaterials, which are frequently used in the treatment of hard tissues such as bones and teeth in today's biotechnological applications, were carried out by wet chemical method. The crystal structures and phases of the synthesized HAp biomaterials were determined by XRD analysis technique, functional groups were determined by Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, morphologies were determined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) device, and elemental compositions were determined by energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) spectroscopy. According to the analysis results, changes were determined in the lattice parameters and crystallization percentages of HAp biomaterial samples synthesized with the addition of quercetin and Zn, while it was observed that the produced HAp samples had similar morphologies and did not contain any impurities and/or residues. It was determined that the synthesized biomaterials contained HAp and β-TCP phases. According to the FT-IR analysis results, it was determined that the biomaterials produced included OH- and PO43- groups, which are the characteristic functional groups of HAp.
