The importance of international labour organization in creating global preventative occupational health and safety culture

The production process and safety and health activities depend on economic policies. At the present time, economic policies are based on increasing competitive conditions due to globalization. In this case precautions for safety and health are neglected because they increase the cost. Work activities that deviate from safety in social perception and behavior patterns lead to occupational accidents and diseases. Occupational health and safety, which is important for the maintenance of the right to life, needs a proactive approach with a preventive culture because it's inadequate to global competitive conditions. International Labor Organization, essentially acts with the idea that ensures the formation of a occupational health and safety culture. The aim of the thesis is to reveal the national legal regulations that need to be made to create an occupational health and safety culture that is a solution to the protection of the right to life against work activities. To explain the importance of continuing working activities under the dominance of the understanding aiming at the health and welfare of everyone in the workplace, through the activities of the ILO. Every working activity that prioritizes health and safety ensures increased productivity in production, development of the country's economy and prosperity. Organization cooperates with social partners to approve and implement conventions and recommendations with a governance approach and social dialogue. Organization, which initiated proactive approach by offering a systematic approach to occupational health and safety, continues to work in countries to develop lifelong protection and learning activities. In this thesis, the changes that occurred as a result of the guidance of ILO, which is active at the global level, were examined with regional distinction. As a result, it has been observed that the effort to familiarize and adapt to basic norms has increased in the countries where the organization operates.
