The effects of global economic crisis to logistics firms: Clustering model as a proposal for a solution

Abstract (EN)

Global economic crisis began with 1929 Great Depression and repeated every decade. Depending on globalozation it influenced the whole world especially from 1980 to 2008. By starting in USA, 2008 Financial Crisis spread rapidly and effected the countries' economic structures, commercial and production enterprices and firms serve in logistic field. Economic crisis prevent the firms of logistic sector from innovative acts in financial, sociological, physical and motivational aspects. In respect to strength of rivalry, logistic sector in Turkey is effected negatively by its resistance against development, lack of experiment and substructure, disability of keeping up with innovations, in addition to negativity that crisis created. In this study, initially, concept of crisis, global crisis occured because of various reasons in particular parts of the world, reasons and results of them, latterly, the reasons of economic crisis occured in USA in 2008, how it spread throughout the world and became global are researched. Additionally, scope of logistic sector is examined. It is aimed to determine the effects of global economic and financial crisis to logistic sector in Turkey. Logistic sector saved improvement in last years in Turkey. Thanks to its location as transferring point for Europe, Middle East and Turkish Republics, Turkey gained the appreciation of authorities in the way of being installation of logistic. Rivalry with firms of sector contiunes in country and abroad. Crisis periods occur in parallel with the variability or indefineteness of economic conditions, effected the firms of sector. However, among the predictions concerning the future of logistic sector, the idea of large increase of outside capital entrance is exists. Firms serving logistic service became victims of economic crisis. In our study, for aggrieved firms, it is aimed to develop a new model which has innovative solutions for marketing and procuration, sustainable strength of rivalry and ability to percieve risks and threats of crisis early in any condition by constituting an effective crisis management as part of "Convergence Approachment".
