Statue of Demeter which situated in Kütahya Archaeological Museum

In the work named "Statue of Demeter which situated in Kütahya Archaeological Museum" the birth of Goddess Demeter, her characteristics and the place she has in the Greek mythology is discussed. After Goddess introduced in generally, festivals in honor of Demeter were investigated. It is known that Demeter was widely worshiped in Greece during the Ancient Period. In the second part of our study, the spread area of Demeter cult in Anatolia and Greece was investigated. In the last part of the study, the statue of Demeter in Kütahya Museum was evaluated in terms of iconographic and stylistic aspects. It is concluded that this work, which was dated to the second half of the 2nd century AD, was produced under the influence of the Hellenistic periods of Greek Sculpture Art.
