Evaluation of the health literacy status among women aged 18-49 registered in Kütahya in a family health center

Abstract (EN)

Objective: In our study, it was intended to evaluate the women's literacy of health attitudes who aged between 18 and 49 registered in Kütahya Dumlupınar Street Family Health Center. Material and Methods: This study is a cross-sectional research type which is made the dates between March 2023 and June 2023. While the study of universe was comprised the women aged between 18 and 49 who registered in Kütahya Dumlupınar Street Family Health Center, the sample was comprised the 437 women applicant aged between 18 and 49 registered in Dumlupınar Street Family Health Center. In collecting data " Questionnaire Form" and " The Scale of-32" Türkiye Health Literacy were used. In analysis of the data SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) packaged software version 21.0 was used. In evaluating of the data,the values given with descriptive findings of working group for categorical variables for number (N) and with percentage distribution for continious variables , and the average (mean) standard deviation,the smallest (min) and the highest(max). Socio demographic characteristics of individuals and their answers to survey questions were evaluated with Chi-Square Test. The realtionship between characteristics of individuals and TSOY-32 Scale were scrutinized with Pearson Chi-Square/Fisher exact test. Correlation analysis was found out between women's obstetrics features and the total score which they received from the scale. Level of statsitical significance was acknowledged as p<0,05. Findings: It was found that the average of women's age were 32, 660 ± 8,653, the %44,9 percentage of women had bachelor's degree and postgraduate degree, the %68, 6 percentage of women were married, the % 66,4 percentage of women had equal income and expense, the %48 percentage of women were laboring, the %95 percentage of women had health assurance, the %49,7 percentage of women were normal weight and had nuclear family. The women who attended Türkiye Health Literacy Scale-32 search were considered as sufficient with total 38,137±6,989 total score average. When the factors which affected parentage were scrutinized,it was found to have statistical significant effect upon health literacy between parentage and age, educational background, marital status, income status,working status, health insurance, mariage duration, spouse's age, spouse's educational level,spouse's working status ,total number of pregnancies, total number of birth status,number of living children, assessment of health, presence of a disease requiring meditaton( p<0,05). Total number of miscarriages,number of stillbirths with family type variables and parentage aren't show significant difference as statistically (p>0,05). Results: Midwife's efficiency were suggested to support in order to increase parentage level by taking into account factors affecting them.
