Abstract (EN)

To make use of Ottoman poetry tradition is perhaps one of the most urgent needs of todays poets.Turkish poetry, which is the most important branch of Turkish literature has got a long-standing history like Turkish history itself. Like in every field of art, poetry is also looking for new approaches about traditionsThe negative manners agains Ottoman Culture and literature beginning from the constitutional monarchy era caused us to have generations who are unaware , even enemy of this culture and literature.Whereas nations can not refuse their pasts even if they want to refuse.. Our past follows us like a destiny. To refuse our literature tradition and culture gains does not redound anyhing to art. Because having no roots disturbs the artist. He/she frequenlty needs to look back. Moreover, to have a permanent work it has to be created within a long standing tradition. To do this old works, especially the chosen best samples must be published. Such kind of works will help new generations to know and make use of the aesthetic world of Ottoman/Divan poetry in a natural way and will not find it strange.Besides the classical explanation method of the old poetry, contemporary explanations like Tanpınar had done will help readers to understand the lively and dynamic sides of the traditions and to transfer it to futureThis study aims that new generations should know the past, be friend with it and make use of it. I have used the classical explanation method for first 50 gazels from Rahimi's collected poetry. Rahimi was an important name in the 16th century. He widely made use of rich language explanations. In the first part of the study I have given information about the literature world in the 16th and 17th century and forewords of collected poetries. Futhermore I have explained the foreword of Rahimi's collected poems. In the second part I have explained gazels. Firstly unknown words in the gazels have been studied and listed. This helped easy understanding of the couplets. Later couplets were transformed into prose and explained with todays Turkish. Finally literary arts and symbols he used were explained.
