Stratigraphy and investigation of usability of limestones' as materials at Kutludüğün and around

In this study, stratigraphic, petrographic, sedimentological features of the units in the Kutludüğün region which is approximately 25 kilometers away from Ankara province and the usability of the observed limestones in the field were investigated. In this context, field and laboratory study programs have been scheduled and applied. In this context, field and laboratory study programs were prepared and implemented. 1/25000 scaled detailed geological map and generalized stratigrafic sections of Kutludüğün and its environment have been prepared. The sedimentary, petrographic and chemical properties of all lithostratigraphic units, which are distinguished in the study area, have been investigated and the effects of petrographic, physical and chemical properties of limestone on aggregate production have been examined. The engineering tests were performed on the aggregates produced from the limestones in the study area and the test results were compared with the concrete aggregate values of TS, TS 706 EN 12620 and BS 812 standards. According to the results of engineering tests on the produced aggregates, the aggregates have the specifications that can be used in the production of high quality concrete. Except the Mentaş quarry, the water absorbation value of the samples taken from stone quarry shows that the ratio is below 1%. Very fine material content determination on concrete aggregates test results on the aggregates were found to be higher than 3% and other engineering test results were in the desired standard range.
