Researching demand function of the borrowed books from library (the case of Aydin and Nazilli)

Without segregation of gender, age, race, religion, language, education, culture,socioeconomic level and political status, public libraries are democratically institutions whichbecame united with the community and the assists the communities economical, social,educational, cultural and technical developments.The terms like science era and science community which are used frequently in ourperiod and if the knowledge sharing and the transportation of equally, qualified and requiredwidespread to the individuals in the community is in question , nowadays the public librariesare obliged to become a right place as a democratically education, culture and science transferinstitution.In modern meaning the appearing of public libraries occurs with the industrialrevolution in the 1850 in England. The prevention of ethnical collapse in the community, toutilize the waste time and to improving the working staff are some of the reason of foundationpublic libraries. Although the library concept in our country is very old the public libraries hasbecome a functional meaning after the foundation of the republic.Libraries are institutions which are existing for readers and assisting for theirresearching. Therefore to attract the readers, libraries should have the capacity whether withits equipment or staff. The main criteria of libraries are that the individuals in the communityshould easily reach it, should get a comfortable and easy service, and should feel like in theirown home. It should be an attractive service place which will answer the visitors interest,requirements and necessity with in quality, continuously renewed collection and currentmaterial. The staff in the library should serve the readers with smiley face and with success,the staff should be chosen from humanist person who loves their work. Also the libraryshould have enough budgets to continue its service successfully. These matters will improvethe service success and the extension in a positive way.Public libraries are reflecting the features of the community who was formed it. Thepublic libraries in developed countries on the world get the deserved place in community likeother public institutions. Now in Turkey the necessity of public libraries became aware. Theimportance and the development of service quality of public libraries, which are accepted ascultural centers for the society?s communication, in this regard a serious operation fordeveloping has been began. It is worked on the increase for the limited exchequer forlibraries; the buildings were renewed to attract the readers, the halls which were used only forreading were tried to changed to places for chatting, knowledge sharing and art activities. Thelibraries were equipped with computers for readers utility, modern technological librarymaterials were placed and the staff were chosen especially from persons who get thegraduation for library service.The population of province Aydin and in connection to library demand of Nazillilibrary according the quality and members numbers which denser compared to other districtshas been examined. So the work of demand function has been generated.As for demand function variable income, age average and distance are determined. Atthe result it can be declared that the demand belong an inverse proportion according ageaverage and distance and right proportion according the income. It was observed that thedemand to libraries are growing with the increasing of individuals income, with the high ageaverage and long distance to the library the demand to libraries has decreased the interest.
