Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to enhance the design of work and dining environments in dormitory cafeterias across Yozgat, by examining the thermal comfort levels that negatively impact the health of cafeteria staff and students. Thermal comfort levels directly affect human health and work performance, and deviations from optimal thermal comfort can directly impact the performance of workers and individuals present in the environment. The ideal temperature for a working environment is not strictly defined by a single standard but depends on various factors. Generally, a range of 20-24°C is considered acceptable for most workers. The experimental study was conducted at five active dormitory facilities within Yozgat province. Measurements were taken in the morning and evening to assess thermal comfort levels. Measurements were conducted using a thermal comfort level determination device and analyzed according to the TS EN ISO 7243 Heat Stress Evaluation Standard using the WBGT index. WBGT analyses were carried out during periods of high heat stress, with measurements taken at three different times, both morning and evening, for one-hour durations. Measurements were taken from heights near the abdomen of individuals exposed to heat. When evaluating the results, it was observed that none of the cafeteria environments met the thermal comfort conditions. It was found that individuals in these environments were negatively affected. Installing climate control systems in dormitory cafeterias, taking regular thermal comfort measurements, and providing training to raise staff awareness can enhance productivity, protect health, and improve overall quality of life, making the provision of thermal comfort conditions critically important. 2024 , xiii + 77 Pages Keywords: Thermal Comfort, Health, Performance, Humidity, Airflow, Heat Stress, Dormitory, Cafeteria
