Devoloping new teaching method and materials in order to realize the objectives of Turkish course (Costruction suffixes and vocabulary derivation) of first grade students at vocational high schools for girl

m SUMMARY Purpose of this study is to develop new teaching method and materials as an alternative to tradional teaching method and materials in order to realize the objectives of Turkish Language (Derivation of new Vocabulary with consructive suffixes) and to search their effectivesness. Investigation was made by means of quasi-experimental research. Experimental and control grouped pre-test, post-test, and follow up test model was used. The population is first grade students of Vocational High Schools for Girls Two classes of Ankara Zübeyde Hanım Vocational High School for Girls are assigned as experimental and control groups. While traditional teaching methods and materials were used control group, new methods and materials were used in experimental group. In experimental group a new teaching method and materials students were made where participate more and rules were not readily given but students were encouraged to find. Materials used were full of pictures and drills. Materials were developed such a way that students feel grammar rules and use them in his or her daily life. In control group a teaching was made where rules are given readily, teacher was at the teaching mode while students were listening mode and textbook which is approved by Ministry of National Education was used as a materials. At the end of treatment, according to post test results, there is a significant difference between experimental and control groups in favour of experimental group. Besides according to follow up test results it is observed that knowledge is remembered more. All these results. Show that new teaching and materials are effective. The study related to the "Derivation of new vocabulary" unit, shows that using this new teaching method and materials creases student success.IV Teachers of Turkish Language and Literature should use this new method and materials in this unit. Also teachers and other researchers should develop new methods and materials for each units of Turkish Language courses for all levels.
