Abstract (EN)

In this study, it is aimed to reduce the impacts of stress factors which were especially caused by global warming in fish farming in recent years. As a result of many researches, L-carnitine substance, which is believed to increase tolerance of fishes to stress factors, was used in this experiment. In this context, the effect of L-carnitine supplemented feed on growth and survival rate at high temperature for the yellow princess juvenile (Labidochromis caeruleus, Fryer, 1956) was investigated in this study. As a fish material, 395 yellow princess juvenile with an average live weight of 0.46±0.09 g which are obtained from a private firm were used. Experiment period; 60 days of feeding with L-carnitine supplemented feed, and 7 days of exposure to high temperature, totaling 67 days. 0, 500, 1000 and 2000 mg/kg L-carnitine were added to the experiment diets. At the end of the experiment; the group fed with 500 mg/kg L-carnitine supplemented feed had higher live weight gain (p<0.05). In the first part of the experiment, the survival rate was 90 %, 89 %, 83 % and 87 % , at 0, 500, 1000 and 2000 mg/kg experiments, respectively. In the second part of the experiment; the values were found to be 97 %, 97 %, 97 % and 96 %. As a result; L-carnitine supplemented feed has been found to have a positive effect on the growth of yellow princess juvenile and not important differences on the survival rates of living under stress (p≥0.05).
