The crisis of political philosophy in Leo Strauss and Hannah Arendt

This study aims to examine the arguments put forward by Arendt and Strauss regarding the crisis of politics in the modern period in the context of Plato. Plato and his noble lie theory, which is in the middle of the discussions about the crisis and its solution in the modern period of the concept of politics, which has been in a continuous transformation from Plato until the modern period, has been examined to explain the relationship of the noble lie concept with the constituting power. In the initial teachings of the founding activity; by including concepts such as cosmos belief, philosophical consensus, and natality doctrine, efforts have been made to elaborate these concepts through the noble understanding of lies and to address each founding activity within the framework of many different perspectives. The effort to elaborate these concepts of founding activity not only with modern expressions about sovereignty and power but through the noble lie within the framework of classical, Platonic texts is also of particular importance for the study on the universality of the arguments in the classical texts regarding the founding debates.
