Abstract (EN)

In this study, PVA (Polyvinyl Alcohol) films containing modal-cotton and cotton fibers were prepared, and their capacity to remove tetracycline and diclofenac sodium was investigated. The highest tetracycline removal in PVA films was achieved at a pH value of 9, while diclofenac sodium removal was obtained at pH 5. For diclofenac sodium, the qmax value in the 10% PVA film was 16.34 mg/g, whereas in 10% PVA films with 0.5 g, 1.0 g, and 1.5 g modalcotton fiber additives, it was calculated to be 14.68 mg/g, 12.36 mg/g, and 10.79 mg/g, respectively. Tetracycline removal was low in modal-cotton and cotton fiber PVA films. However, the addition of carbonyl iron in the 10% PVA cotton fiber film tetracycline removal enhanced to 90.8% at a pH of 3 and a film amount of 1.0 g. The qmax values for the 10% PVA and 10% PVA cotton fiber films were 0.629 mg/g and 0.560 mg/g, respectively. The addition of carbonyl iron to the 10% PVA cotton fiber film increased the qmax value to 2.362 mg/g. In conclusion, diclofenac removal can be achieved with modal-cotton fiber PVA films, while tetracycline removal remains low in modal-cotton and cotton fiber PVA films. However, adding carbonyl iron to the cotton fiber PVA film significantly enhances tetracycline removal.
