Abstract (EN)
Considering the human subconscious mind, in fact, every word we use in our daily lives is encoded in our minds in connection with our memories, the emotions we feel at that moment, the experiences we experience through smell, taste or color. This encoding process also shows us how the act of perceiving and making sense of words results in personal, cultural and social memory. From this point of view, interpersonal communication does not only take place through the lexical meanings of words, but also through the associations of words intertwined with experiences. When using language, the connotations of words differ depending on variables such as gender, age and occupation. The aim of this study is to reveal the differences in adolescents' thinking, perception and interpretation, etc. through the different roles that society attributes to men and women and the behaviors appropriate to these roles, and thus the effect of gender on the language use of high school students. This study will be related to the field of sociolinguistics, but also to connotative meaning, which is the subject of semantics, and cognitive linguistics. The results of our research are important not only for linguistics, but also for other fields such as psychology and counseling research, sociology, neurophysiology, psychology and guidance studies, sociology, and neurophysiology, as they provide important findings on the semantic and structural connections between words and the individual and mental codes and connotative meaning of these connections among high school students. This research, also, makes it possible to see how the changing mentality and experiences in the digital world we live in are reflected in language. Keywords: connotation, meaning, sociolinguistics, cognitive linguistics, gender
