Abstract (EN)

The main purpose of this study is to examine the mediating role of psychological resilience in the relationship between perception of violence and peer bullying among high school students. The research group consists of 501 (232 female and 269 male) volunteer high school students. The research data were collected using the School Violence Perception Scale, Peer Bullying Determination Scale Adolescent Form, Child and Adolescent Psychological Resilience Scale, and the Personal Information Form developed by the researcher. In the analysis of the data, independent sample t-test and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) were used to determine whether perception of violence, peer bullying, and psychological resilience differed according to demographic variables. The relationships between the study variables (perception of violence, peer bullying, psychological resilience) were examined using Pearson correlation analysis. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was used to determine the mediating role of psychological resilience in the relationship between perception of violence and peer bullying levels of high school students. SPSS 27.0 package program was used for data analysis. In the analyses conducted according to demographic factors, it was observed that perception of violence, peer bullying and psychological resilience differed significantly according to gender, school type, grade level and academic success. According to the research results, there were positive and significant relationships between perception of violence and the bully and victim sub-dimensions of the peer bullying scale. It was observed that the sub-dimensions of the peer bullying scale and perception of violence had a negative and significant relationship with psychological resilience. In addition, it was determined that psychological resilience had a mediating role in the relationship between perception of violence and peer bullying. The findings were discussed in the light of the relevant literature and suggestions were presented.
