Abstract (EN)

Profession can be defined as the occupation of individuals based on certain knowledge and skills in order to survive. The person selects and maintains a profession in accordance with his/her interests, abilities and personality characteristics among many kinds of professions. The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between 11th grade and 12th grade high school students' Holland personality types and their professional maturity levels and to determine to what extent the variables of age, gender, grade level, mother's educational status and father's educational status are effective on these characteristics. . The research was carried out using the descriptive and the relational screening model. The study was conducted in the spring semester of the 2019-2020 Academic year with students attending high schools in Kırşehir city center. A total of 300 students, including 140 female students and 160 male students, participated in the study. The contingency sampling method was used to determine the study group. Within the scope of the research, the "Holland Occupational Choice Inventory" was used to determine the professional personality types of the students and the "Occupational Maturity Scale" was used to determine the professional maturity levels. The data obtained were analyzed with Pearson Product Moment Correlation Analysis (r) in order to reveal the relationship between professional maturity and professional personality types. Independent samples t-test and Mann Whitney U test to determine the differentiation of variables according to gender type and grade level; One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Kruskal Wallis - H test were used to determine the differentiation according to age and parental education level. Findings of the research shows that there is no significant relationship between researcher's personality type, artist personality type, social personality type, entrepreneur personality type and realistic personality types and students' professional maturity levels. It has been observed that there is only a low level negative significant relationship between traditional personality type and professional maturity level. In addition, it has been observed that all of Holland's occupational personality types (researcher, artist, social, entrepreneur, traditional and realistic personality type) have a positive significant relationship with each other at low, medium and high levels. It was found that the relationship between entrepreneurial personality type and traditional personality type (r=0.66) was the most common. The lowest correlation was found between the artist personality type and the traditional personality type (r=0.17).
