Foreign language learning concerns of high school students the relationship between self-efficacy perceptions: The mediating role of emotional intelligence

The aim of the research is to examine the mediating role of emotional intelligence in the relationship between high school students' foreign language learning anxiety and self-efficacy perceptions. Relational screening model was used in the research. The study group of the research; It consists of 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grade students studying in Anatolian, Science, Social sciences and vocational high schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education in Rize province in the 2023-2024 academic year. The study group was created using a stratified random sampling method. Personal information form, foreign language anxiety scale, foreign language self-efficacy perception scale and Bar-On emotional intelligence scale were used to collect data in the study. To evaluate the data obtained, SPSS 21.0 program was used for statistical analysis. As a result of the research, it is seen that foreign language anxiety is related to foreign language self-efficacy perception and emotional intelligence. Another result reached is that foreign language anxiety, self-efficacy perception and emotional intelligence vary according to variables such as gender, grade level, school type, academic status, place of residence, parents' education level and number of siblings.
