Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this study is to determinate parental attitudes and emotional intelligence predicted to what extent life satisfaction. Research has been studied on a sample of 855 (475 female, 379 male) including 9, 10, 11, 12 grade high school students who were studying in 9 central disrict of Adana. The data of adolescent's life satisfaction was collected by using "Multidimensional Adolescent Life Satisfaction Scale" (Huebner, 1994), the data about parental attitude measured by "Parenting Scales" (Lamborn, Mounts, Steinberg ve Dornbush, 1991), the data of emotional intelligence "Bar-on Emotional Intelligence Scale Child and Adolescent Form" and a presonal data "Personal Information Form" that was prepared by researcher. The was analyzed by using Multiple Regression Analysis. The result of research found that there was a significant relation between parental acceptence/involvement, psychology autonomy granting, strictness/supervision with emotional intelligence total score and general life satisfaction. In the study it was observed that explaining of high school students' life satisfaction between parental acceptence/involvement, psychology autonomy granting, strictness/supervision and the dimensions of emotional intelligence; interpersonal, adaptability, possitive impression and general mood that they are significant contributing variables. It was found that adolescents' family satisfaction predicted the dimensions of emotional intelligence; stress management, possitive impression, general mood and strictness/supervision, psychology autonomy granting parental acceptance/involvement whereas friens satisfaction predicted the dimensions of emotional intelligence; general mood, interpersonal, adaptability and parental involvement/acceptence, psychology autonomy granting. It was indicated that adolescents school satisfaction predictors were the dimensions of emotional intelligence as interpersonal and parental acceptance/involvement, psychology environment satisfaction predictors were the dimensions of emotional intelligence; interpersonal, stress management, possitive impression and parental acceptance/involvement, psychology autonomy granting, strictness/supervision. In addition it was revealed that the self satisfaction of high school students predicted the only dimension of emotional intelligence was general mood.
