Lütfi Oğuzcan's life, works and place in the press world

Lütfi Oğuzcan is a person who is defined as a soldier, Kuva-yı Milliye member, writer, poet, historian and journalist. He lost his father at a young age and became an orphan. This situation of being an orphan caused events that would have a great impact on the course of his life. When he was only fifteen years old, he was sent to Istanbul to join the army for World War I by becoming two years older. After the military training he received in Istanbul, he served there as a second lieutenant. After the army was discharged after World War I, he returned to his hometown Tarsus in 1918. He served as an officer here for a short time. In 1920, he left the military profession and joined Kuva-yı Milliye. In 1920, he moved to Konya to join the regular army. He participated in all the battles of the National Struggle within the regular army. After the victory of the National Struggle, he worked as a clerk and similar civil servants in Eskişehir, Adana and Mersin. He wrote articles in many newspapers and magazines to convey all the events he experienced and saw during the First World War and the National Struggle. In addition, he wrote novels, poems and stories based on history. Later, in order to publish these works, he published the Her Yönde Türk'e Doğru magazine, Türkedoğru newspaper, Akdeniz newspaper and Kuvayi Milliye magazine with his own efforts and means. With these press tools, he aimed to introduce the founder of the Republic of Turkey, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, to the Turkish youth and to pass on the National Struggle to the next generations. These newspapers and magazines, which were published in quite long numbers, gained the feature of being a historical source. Lütfi Oğuzcan founded the Kuva-yı Milliye Mujahideen and Veterans Association in order to gather the veterans together, defend their rights and make their voices heard, and he also served the Turkish intellectual world with his thoughts on subjects such as communism, Kemalism, love of the country and the issue of faith. In his last years, he served as the deputy mayor of Adana and Mersin. He is a person who has served his country and history in every sense with his actions.
