The investigation of the psychological states of the drug using prisoners

The aim of this study is to investigate the mental health of substance user probationals including their psychiatric symptoms.Mental health levels of substance user probationals were investigated according to their age, marital status, percieved socioeconomic status, percieved parental attitude, educational status of parents and existence of immigration.In this study, questionnare and SCL-90-R were used with 100 male substance user probationals that accepted to attend the investigation to collect data. Data were analyzed by Kruskal Wallis H and Mann Whitney U.The results of the study showed that there are statistically significant differences between obsessive-compulsive disorder, interpersonal sensitivity, depression and anxiety scores according to age and interpersonal sensitivity, depression according to percieved socioeconomic status and interpersonal sensitivity according to educational status of father but also there are not are statistically significant differences between somatization, obsessive-compulsive disorder, interpersonal sensitivity, depression, anxiety, anger, fobic anxiety, paranoid thought, psychoticism scores according to marital status, educational status of mother, percieved parental attitude and existence of immigration.Key Words: Probation, substance use, mental health, anger, somatization, obsessive-compulsive, interpersonal sensitivity, depression, anxiety, fobic anxiety, paranoid thought, psychoticism.
