Abstract (EN)

In this research, the resiliency of substance-user and non-user undergraduate students was investigated. Descriptive research model was applied and the sample group consisted of 546 under-graduate students in 4 years period undergraduate programmes in Akdeniz University in Antalya. Resiliency scale which was developed by Maddi and Khoshaba (2001), substance-use questionnaire which was adapted from Yılmaz and Türkkahraman (2014) and personal information form developed by researcher were used for data collection. There was no significant difference between resiliency of substance-user and non-user students. All demographic variables proved no significant difference except for educational back-ground. The resiliency of substance-user students proved no significant difference related to the first motivation to use substance and the age of first substance-use. There was a significant difference between the resiliency of substance-user students related to the substance-use places. It was found that the students using substance at school had a higher resiliency compared to the students using substance at other places. Students using substance at school and at entertainment places had significantly higher resiliency compared to the students using substance at home and friend's home. A significant difference was found on the resiliency of substance-user students related to the reasons to keep on substance-use. Students using substance for not being excluded by friends had a lower resiliency compared to all other reasons. Students using substance to forget problems had significantly lower resiliency compared to the students using substance to have fun, for not being able to quit and due to other reasons.
