Abstract (EN)

The study area is located at the south part of Malatya (Eastern Anatolia) grapen basin. In this area, lateral and vertical related Neogene units which are compatible with each other lies on a Permo-Carboniferous base. The study was conducted on terrestrial Beylerderesi formation formed by successive mudstone, sandstone and conglomerates, which are within Neogene units. Five stratigraphic sections containing Beylerderesi formation were measured. As a result of these studies, 6 lithofacies and 3 lithofacies associations were detected, and they were found that alluvial fan facies of the southern part of the deposit is in proximal fan character, where as the southern part is in medial and distal fan character. Moreover, 28 samples were studied for micro -paleontological investigation, and 6 genera and 11 species belonging to ostracods, including Ilyocypris gibba, I. angulata slavonica, Prionocypris zenkeri, Schellencandona ? sp. Krstic, 2006, Heterocypris salina, C. (C.) paralella pannonica, C. (Neglecandona) decimai, C. burdurensis, C. (C.) xanthica, Pseudocandona compressa, C. (Typhlocypris) eremita were discovered for the first time in Beylerderesi formation deposits. As a result of evaluation of the regional stratigraphic position of Beylerderesi formation and the study on the ostracod species of the deposits, its age was found to be Pontian (Late Miocene) - Pliocene, and with the red ? colored mudstones and the calich nodules, is approximately semi ? arid and humid.
