Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of clinical and subclinical ketosis in dairy cattle reared in Mardin province. The animal material of the study consisted of 100 dairy cattle in 10 different farm in Mardin region. Clinical examinations of the animals were performed before the study. Blood samples were taken from anticoagulant tubes of Vena Jugularis of animals and ketone (BHBA) and glucose levels were measured. Clinical ketosis was detected in 5 (5%) while subclinical ketosis in 15 (15%) of the samples. Ketosis is a disease that causes economic losses with neural symptoms, rapid attenuation and low yield. In this study, the prevalence of ketosis in Mardin province was determined. It was concluded that necessary preventive measures should be taken in order to prevent economic losses and treatment costs due to productivity losses in animals.
