Prof. Yusuf KOÇ January 2016, 116 pages The aim of this study is to define the secondary school mathematics teachers' teaching quality and to investigate whether there is a relationship between teaching quality and students' academic achievement. Sample of the study is constituted by the worked on the two secondary school mathematics teachers in Gaziantep. The current study is a qualitatively designed case study in which the lessons of two mathematics teachers were video-recorded to determine their in-class mathematics teaching quality. In total, 10 hours of teaching video-recordings were transcribed. Video-recordings were analysed by using Mathematical Quality of Instruction Instrument (MQI) scale which was designed to describe the teachers' level of in-class mathematics teaching quality based on teacher-student context relationship. The analyses show that there are various factors influencing the quality of teaching such as mathematical language used in class, student errors, and intensity of the mathematical context, mathematical variety, and active participation of the students during the course. In order to define and increase of the Quality of Instruction Instrument and to improve students' learning and to get the effective teaching as the ultimate When the utilize of application in class, The evaluation of multiple types of the separated situations and the roles of situations are put down to the fact by the obtained of private study findings. In order to determination of the weak points instruction and to provide the effective teaching in terms of students' learning to take account of teaching applications in class is thought the importance.
