The Computer competence of mathematics teachers

The competence level of mathematics teachers onusing computer was investigated with the variables of socioeconomic state of theschools that the teachers working at, gender and rank.This study is designed according to the descriptive model. The data was collected by asurvey aplied on the mathematics teachers of primary school in Eskişehir in 2004-2005academic year. The survey is improved by the researcher and formed in 59 items on 7competence fields about computer using. The data was analysed according to thepercentage and frequency tables.According to the data obtained by the research, it was determined that the competencelevel of mathematics teachers of primary school on using computer is inadequate. It wasdetermined that the competence level of female mathematics teachers and mathematicsteachers working at the schools that have lower and medium socioeconomic state onusing computer are high. Also it was determined that the competence level ofmathematics teachers that are working over 21 years on using computer is low.
