Efficiency of ministry of national education central in-service training and its contribution to management skills (a research in the context of the directors of health ? occupation high school)

This research has been done in order to state the efficiency of the Ministry of National Education central in-service training and its contribution to management skills. It is expected that this research will reveal whether the trainings has achieved its purpose and will improve the next in-service trainings which will be prepared. Also, suggestions will be offered.A five-point Likert scale has been used for data collection in this research. The data have been evaluated using an SPSS Statistics Program in accordance with the descriptive analysis method. Involved in this research are 75 directors of the Health-Occupation High School in Turkey in 2009-2010 Academic year.According to the results of this research, female directors, directors in the 25-30 age group, directors who completed two-year degree and directors with 6-10 years of seniority have the most positive reflections for these trainings. Moreover, it has been seen that directors rarely participate in these trainings.According to the results of this research, it is recommended to give priority to women and younger aged applicants in the director appointments. Also, it is recommended to increase the number of courses and to provide continuous in-service training. The directors should be encouraged to participate in these trainings. Moreover, rewarding successful participants at the end of the trainings will encourage a greater participation in these trainings.Key Words: In-service training, the directors of Health-Occupation High School, Management skills
