Remarks of Mehmet Kaplan concerning literature theory

In this study, remarks of Mehmet Kaplan concerning literature theory are determined. The first part of the study that is composed of four parts is separated for the elements that form Mehmet Kaplan?s ideas about literature theory. In this part, the place of Mehmet Kaplan in Turkish literature surveys is put forward. The second part of our study is separated for the major subjects of literature theory as concepts and definitions. Mehmet Kaplan?s definitions concerning art and literature are evaluated under the titles of; description-limit, objective, essence, function. In the third part, it is dwelled on Mehmet Kaplan?s approach concerning literary forms in terms of literary theory. Mehmet Kaplan?s attention, who studies on text analyses, concerning literary forms is tried to be put forward. The fourth part has the title of `Mehmet Kaplan and literary criticism?. In this part, firstly, Mehmet Kaplan?s ideas concerning criticism are analysed. Afterwards, his ideas and appreciations about literature theories and literary movements are included. And in the conclusion part of the study Mehmet Kaplan is intended to be told with his own denotations. Mehmet Kaplan?s contributions to Turkish literature researches from the stand point of literature theory are explained. Key words: Mehmet Kaplan, Literature Theory, Literary Criticism, Text Analyses
