Abstract (EN)

The concept of space is the most basic component of architecture, and it is constantly changing and acquiring new meanings throughout the historical process. Especially in deciphering these meanings, besides discussions, architectural practices, and the academic studies conducted in the field of Architecture, architectural discourses also have a crucial place. From this point of view, the study aims to reveal the concepts, which are built on the assumption of whether "space may exist on its own", that generate/describe the space through architectural discourses. Within the scope of the study, a conceptual reading model has been developed over the discourses of 9 leading architects of the period, both theoretical and practical, from the 1950s to the present. The content analysis method and the MAXQDA program were employed as the interfaces in the assessment of the discourses, and a model that could be tested in different structure typologies and/or individuals was developed. In this regard, a different perspective on space is developed and interpreted through the attained concepts.
