However, the Angle, Saxon and Jute branches of the Germanic raids in the Tribal Hidage that reached Britain soon began to spread on the island. These nation who settled in the lands which they conquered from Britons were called as Anglo-Saxons because of their union of fate, left their old beliefs within a few centuries and converted to Christianity. The Kingdom of Mercia, one of the most important states of the Heptarchy order, has been the main actor of this order for many years. The historical process and the breaking points of the Kingdom of Mercia affected the fate of Anglo-Saxon nation in Britain deeply. The Viking raids which started late 8th century became one of the most important problems of Kingdom of Mercia and other nations in Britain since the middle of 9th century. The devastating effect of the Viking attacks was an important factor in starting to hit Mercia in it's strongest period and consuming it's power. By the year 918, the Kingdom of Mercia was tied to the Kingdom of Wessex and go out of existence.
