Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this research is to reveal the education expenditures of families whose children are educated in vocational high schools. Survey model and quantitative methods were used. Data were collected from the families of 550 students studying in nine departments of five vocational high schools, four from Denizli city center and one from Çivril district, selected by disproportionate cluster sampling method. The data collection tool developed by the researcher was used. Descriptive statistics, frequency analysis and correlation coefficient were used in the analysis of sub-problems. The following can be said about the results of the research: The majority of families in the study have low levels of education and income. Among families' education expenses, the expenses spent on equipment and materials in the departments where students study are higher than those spent on basic expenses such as transportation, food and clothing. The department, class and whether the student's school is in a rural or urban area are determinants of families' educational expenditure. The educational expenditure of families is affected by the income levels of the families, the ownership of the house they live in, whether they live in an urban or rural area, the number of children in the family and the gender of the student. The education levels of the mothers and fathers, their professions, living together or separately are determinants of the educational expenditure of families for vocational high school students. As family incomes increase, their education expenditures also increase. Keywords: Family education expenditures, vocational high school, the economics of education.
