Investigation of myokine response to moderate exercise applied to rats with metabolic syndrome

Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is was to investigate the effects of moderate-intensity regular exercises in metabolic syndrome induced rats by fructose-containing diet on skeletal muscle-derived myostatin and myonectin levels. In this study, a total of 21 male Sprague Dawley rats were used. The rats were divided into 3 groups with 7 animals in each group. The rats in the exercise group were exercised 3 days a week for 6 weeks. The exercises, which lasted for six weeks, were continued with the Treadmill Exercise device in the first week and with the pool with an average water temperature of 28-32 degrees in the following weeks due to the breakdown of the device. At the end of the exercise, the animals were sacrificed under anesthesia and blood samples were taken by intracardiac means. In serum samples obtained from blood samples, myostatin and myonectin were measured by ELISA method. In addition, the determinations of albumin, ALT, AST, total protein, total Cholesterol, Glucose, Triglyceride, HDL, LDL, uric acid, CK-MB and CK-NAC in serum samples were studied in Fırat University Hospital Central Laboratory. When the weight averages of each group from the beginning to the end of the study were examined, it was seen that there was a statistically significant weight gain, but the group that was applied exercise was considerably lower than the averages of the other groups. In the blood examinations, it was observed that there were significant variables in the parameters of the groups such as myostatin, myonectin, albumin, ALT, AST, total protein, total Cholesterol, Glucose, Triglyceride, HDL, LDL, uric acid, CK-MB and CK-NAC. As a result; it can be said that exercise applied to rats with metabolic syndrome has positive effects on body weight, impaired fasting glucose, liver enzyme levels, blood lipid profile and myostatin and myonectin levels, and because of these positive effects, physical activity and exercise practices can be recommended to individuals with metabolic syndrome.
