Abstract (EN)

Strengthening of existing building has become one of the most important topics in the civil engineering areas. Therefore, different strengthening's alternatives have been developed for strengthening of the existing structures. In this study, a school building project in the province of Edirne will be taken into consideration, and its level of performance in the existing and strengthened conditions have been examined comparatively. For this purpose, Incremental Dynamic Analysis method was used to determine the performance level of the existing condition of the building. After that, the building was strengthened with the reinforced concrete shear wall as appropriate to the Turkish Earthquake Code (2007) to determine the levels of performance with using the same analysis method. After these analysis, the Fragility curves, Maximum Base Shear-Maximum Story Drift Curves and Maximum Story Drift-Story Height Curves for existing and strengthened conditions were obtained. As a result of this study, the results of the structural performance in the existing and strengthened conditions are summarized according to the Turkish Earthquake Code.
