Abstract (EN)
Mindfulness, that is, conscious awareness, is a teaching that is assumed to be new and helps people acquire the attitudes necessary to feel happy, peaceful and healthy in the face of events. Since the great Sufi scholar Mevlana also tried to make people acquire the same attitudes through his works centuries ago, it is not thought that mindfulnes is a new teaching. The aim of this study is to determine the existence, similarities and differences of mindfulness and attitudes in Mevlana's thought. In the research, qualitative research method was used to collect data through document analysis. Mevlana's works, national and international literature were examined within the scope of the purpose. According to the findings of our research, it has been observed that the new teaching of mindfulness in Mevlana's thought is similar to the teachings in general. It has been determined that the attitudes of mindfulness teaching, non-judgment, beginner's mind, trust and non-effort (gratitude, staying in the moment) are generally similar. As a result of this research, it was observed that Mevlana's teaching is a mindfulness teaching that emphasizes that what people experience and will experience is not a coincidence, that people should use their ability to think, and while thinking, they should accept that everything is under God's control. In addition, it has been determined that the attitudes of non-judgment, beginner's mind, trust and non-effort (thankfulness, staying in the moment) are generally similar in both teachings, but Mevlana based the belief in Allah on acquiring these attitudes. It has been determined that the method used by Mevlana is more effective than mindfulness methods. Therefore, it has been concluded that the teaching of mindfulness is in the thought of Mevlana. Multidisciplinary and large-scale research is needed to detail the methods used to acquire attitudes.
