Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study was to evaluate the skeletal, dentoalvelar and soft tissue changes while using an Mikro-Implant Supported Modified Lokar appliance for distalization of first molars in Class II malocclusions with erupted second molars. 35 patients included in this study who had skeletal Class 1 or Class 2 anomaly and dental Clas II malocclusion, moderate space deficiency in the maxillary arch, none or minimal space deficiency in the mandibular arch and suitable for non extraction treatment with sufficient overbite. Whether erupted or not the upper third molars extracted before the patient had included in our study. The treatment group was included 20 patients ( 10 females, 10 males) whose chronological ages were 15.252.4 years. The control group was included 15 patient (10 females, 5 males) whose chronological ages were 15.552.8 years. Distalization ended when Class I molar relationship was achieved with 1-2 mm overcorrection. Molar distalization continued for an average of 10.852.6 months for the treatment group. The amount of maxillary first molar distalization was 3.2851.18 mm with 5.4853.42 degrees distal tipping for the treatment group. Upper I . molars were intruded an average of 0.7850.82 mm and rotated distopalatally 12.2057.96 degrees for right side, 10.10+8.30 degrees for left side. The amount of maxillary second premolar distalization was 1.8351.36 mm with 10.7556.28 degrees distal tipping for the treatment group. Upper 2. premolars were intruded an average of 0.2020.85 mm. Upper incisors were moved distally 0.2320.91 mm with 0.9351.52 degrees distal tipping. Evaluation of vertical changes showed significant increase of anterior and posterior face heights and a nonsignificant increase in mandibular plane in the treatment group. Occlusal plane and sagital position of point A also increased. Key Words: Maxillary Molar distalization, Micro-implant, Modified Lokar Molar distalizer, Implant supported upper molar distalization.
