Abstract (EN)
The declaration of the 2nd Constitutionalism was a very significant period for the Westernization of the Ottoman as it brought the idea of freedom which was awaited with a great greediness. Following the 2nd Constitutionalism, the idea of nationalism occurred brought about by nationalist riots and wars. The novels of the National Literature Period composed of the idealistic synthesis of the nationalism movement and the Westernization trend that was becoming free had an important role due to their processing the two different ideas. Thus, the novels of the National Literature Period have rich materials on the point of the criticism and the necessity of the West. In our study, we are going to try to establish the western feeling in the National Literature Period by studying the western elements which the novels chosen among the novels of the National Literature Period such as Peyami Safa, Halide Edip Adıvar, Yakup Kadri Karaosmanoğlu, Reşat Nuri Güntekin and Refik Halit Karay include.Key Words: National Literature, novel, cultural change, Westernization
