Abstract (EN)

When the last periods of the Ottoman Empire are examined from all angles, it has been a period in which many political, military and economic developments have been experienced. As part of this process, the period of National Struggle is located in a much separate place. Many Ottoman Officers also served in critical positions as part of this struggle and made efforts to save the homeland. One of these officers, Selahattin Adil Pasha, who took part in both the last periods of the Ottoman Empire and the National Struggle, is a name that we think is not mentioned much in historical narratives, besides being one of the most important military commanders of the recent Ottoman history. To briefly mention his life, Adil Bey, who was born on January 19, 1882 in Istanbul and whose full name was 'Mehmet Salahaddin Adil' Bey, spent his childhood and youth in Istanbul, and then he was admitted to the Military Junior High School and the Engineer-i Berri Humayun school, which was the Black Engineer school of the period. Selahattin Adil Pasha, who served in various positions in many regions such as Damascus, Thessaloniki, Istanbul, Libya, Romania, Bulgaria, also served during the Dardanelles Sea and Land Wars, then served on the Eastern Front after the Armistice of Mondros, when Canakkale was handed over to the Entente, and after the armistice period was not very active, he officially moved to Anatolia after the occupation of Istanbul and joined the National Struggle. After this process, he joined the Defense of Antep, which is the topic we will discuss in our dissertation, and on June 26, 1920, he was assigned to the Adana Corps, and in addition to fighting the French and Armenian gangs supported by them in the region located in Antep, Urfa, Marash and Adana region, he also served in organizing troops and reporting events in the region to the center. Here we will try to examine this process, which is the date of Selahattin Adil Bey's appointment to the Adana Front, in the light of sources from beginning to end. These sources are mainly Selahattin Adil Pasha's Life Struggles, which includes his own memoirs, published by the General Staff, Turkish War of Independence IV.Volume The work of the Southern Front, again the work of retired Colonel Mumtaz Ulusoy, prepared by the General Staff of the Istiklal Harbi 2.the work of the nci Corps 1918-1921, again in the Presidential Ottoman Archive( formerly the Ottoman Archive of the Prime Minister's Office), the Republican Archive, Atase, that is, the Archive of the Military History and Strategic Study and Supervision of the General Staff, except for the resources that we can access on behalf of the defense of Pasha and Antep, We will try to use the period-related sources from the documents published by the General Staff Printing House and published quarterly in the Journal Military History Documents. Apart from these, we will also try to benefit from many different sources. Thus, we will try to reveal the occupation processes of Antep, how the defense of Antep began, and what kind of role Selahattin Adil Bey had in the Defense of Antep and what he did.
