Abstract (EN)
VI ABSTRACT Nationalism, emerging with the French revolution, has grown as a powerful trend that governed the entire world history. The formation of the nation-state has brought an end to the imperial age and the world experienced a new political formation. In this view great empires o f the age h ave 1 eft their p olitical entities ton ation-states including Ottoman Empire which left its political stance to the Republic of Turkey. Liberalism was one of the leading forces of the Revolution with its discourse of liberty and individualism. Although nationalism and liberalism look as confronting trends they share a common historical development. After the 1980s novel ideas emerged as liberalist ideas were put into practice. Türkiye Günlüğü Dergisi has been founded during the liberalist atmosphere of the Özal period. Structurally nationalistic the magazine has left a large sense for liberalism. In this context it has a liberal nationalist discourse.
