Abstract (EN)

Architectural design tools and methods have shaped by a wide historical accumulation and they have progress until today. In addition, they are in a situation that continually kinesis with periodical perception and opinions. In time, exist design approaches with interpretations and critical stances develop new points of views and define themselves evermore and over again. In architecture, diagrams and diagrammatic approaches are important tools for reflecting this changes where using processes of design production and followings. Improvements of purpose and methods in using diagrams at the same time show us that improvements contemporary era designers' perception and approaches process. Within the scope of thesis, firstly diagrammatic design approaches and their usages via design tool, method and process developments are discussed. Flexible and subjective approaches that came from using diagrams as a tool for form searching are evaluated and exist classifications are examined. Interpretations of information and data analysis with diagrammatic methods and their effects on architectural form's creation are investigated. By theoretic infrastructure that found in first half of thesis, in the second half, sequential form formation diagrams' are defining also its potentials and contents of this method are analyzed. For this diagrams, questioning that "are they a designing tools or just a simple presentation techniques?" Bjarke Ingels Group's sequential formation diagrams' instances where they used them in architectural competitions are researched through their diagrammatic strategies' and results' relationships with urban and users. In this direction made a classification by author concerning all examined projects' priorities that formal, functional and conceptual figure issues and defining design moves by charts of this kind of diagrams.
