Statistical analysis of internal bedding structures and bed thickness variations of turbidites located at the misis structural high (SE Adana)

In this study statistical evaluation of Karataş formation turbidites which are situated in Misis-Andırın Basin is constructed. At the outset, layer thicknesses of turbidite units which are located in the study area are measured at the SW-NE direction and 497 number of turbidite units are determined. For the purpose of designate the flow regime, spread rate, distance to the source of turbidite units which are located in the study area and to make paleo-environment interpretation with statistical methods; thickness datums which are on hand are used to construct run analysis and to produce cumulative frequency diagrams. The cumulative frequency diagrams are related to the log-normal and power-law distributions and gave some help to make environment interpretation of turbidite units. Relationship between the distributions are tested by using Pearson corelation (R2) coefficient and Kolmogorov-Smirnov goodness-of-fit tests. At the result of these analysis; during the development of the turbidite units, absence of a systematic turbidite flow determined and distance to the source of turbidite units which are distinguished at the study area are designated separately. The spread degree of turbidite units are produced with using power-law distribution?s slope exponent value and evaluated for the entire turbidite units which are situated in the study area. The environment interpretation of turbidite units at the study area are made with the aid of cumulative frequency diagrams. With application of different statistical methods to the turbidite units, some factors like flow velocity, grain size and flow concentration which are effective at the occurance of turbidite units can be define too by using statistical methods.
