During the process of the reproduction of the social structure, while each being a dissident counter culture, the youth subcultures are being attempted to be turned into popular cultures through the press. In this context, this study is intended to determine how the youth subcultures that are being attempted to be turned into popular cultures, are represented in the ?Uykusuz? which is a humor magazine and one of the tools of the high-circulated magazines in the mass media. The humor magazines representing the youth sub-cultures, who are perceive and alienated as the sources of heresy (deviance), chaos, and social unrest in developing countries like Turkey, were hereby investigated as on whether they also partner up in the othering of these subcultures as well. On the other side, this study tried to estimate the role played by the humor magazines in the gaining of legitimacy of the mentioned sub-cultures.Volumes published between 5th September 2007 to 1st January 2010 of the ?Uykusuz? magazine, which is one of the humor magazines representing the youth subcultures, have been subjected to descriptive analysis in this study. As a result of this study, it was revealed that the youth sub cultures were sometimes ridiculed, sometimes criticized, sometimes alienated, sometimes their visibility in public was increased and legitimized by the humor magazines via caricature.Key Words:YouthYouth Subcultures,Popular CultureHumor magazines
