Abstract (EN)

This thesis study aims to evaluate metalware and findings related to the production of metalware, dated to the third and second millennia and unearthed during the systematic excavations at Seyitömer Mound led by Prof. A. Nejat BILGEN between the years of 2006 and 2014, and approach them with consideration to various basic subjects such as typological definition, chronological evolution, and comparison with counterparts. There has been great contribution to the chronological evolution and the comparative evaluation of the metal findings and production materials due to Seyitömer Mound's excavations being carried out in a horizontally large area, its stratigraphy created using C-14 dating, its proximity to mineral deposits due to its geographical position, and its location on important natural and historical transportation networks from east to west and from north to south. When the richness of metal objects, the density of production materials and the workshops/workshops in Seyitömer Mound levels V and IV are considered, it is understood that metalworking in Seyitömer is a type of craft that stands out more in the context of commercial activity rather than the needs of the settlement. Seyitömer Mound metalware and metalware production materials belonging to levels V and IV reveal the existence of settlement-specific types along with the types that reflect the commercial and cultural interaction established between the Western Anatolian coastal area and Central Anatolia and Northern Syria-Mesopotamia. In both levels, the craftspeople of Seyitömer learned new forms -reflecting the era- through commercial and cultural relationships, and also preserved their distinctive/unique production approach and tradition.
